Other Saturday football
2016 kicks off in the Premier League with what will hopefully be an emphatic home win at the Boleyn Ground. There are also a few other fixtures.

ARSENAL vs NEWCASTLE
It's top versus almost bottom at the Emirates and Arsenal will hope to avoid another Boxing Day-style drop in their defences. Newcastle will be pumped up for this and will hope to pinch an unlikely point from their visit to north London. But only fools and magpies would predict anything but a resounding home win.

LEICESTER vs BOURNEMOUTH
Leicester's return to the status quo has been long predicted. They've picked up just a point from their two Christmas fixtures and Jamie Vardy's goals have dried up. Will they roll over, lay down against a tenacious Bournemouth team today, or will they pick up where they left off before Christmas? League positions suggests a home win, but both teams' recent form tempts me to go for the draw.

MAN UTD vs SWANSEA
Say what you like about van Gaal's Man U team, but they're still above us in the table. Their main problem lies between the ears and all the pressure is on them again today. Swansea come into the game with three consecutive clean sheets, but also at least one eye over their shoulders. Stuttering home win.

NORWICH vs SOUTHAMPTON
If ever there was a game that had Draw written all over it, this is the one. Which means it won't be a draw. Both teams will fancy their chances of nicking the points, which should make for an open, entertaining game. But... a draw.

SUNDERLAND vs ASTON VILLA
If the Black Cats succeed in fucking up again today, there will realistically be just one relegation spot left up for grabs. BFS will have his team pumped up and going all out for the win, while Remi Garde must be wondering what he has to do to get three points. But you have to feel that home advantage will be the key today, so home win.

WEST BROM vs STOKE
Who'd bet against Stoke? They've suddenly become a team that's a joy to watch and their excellent recent form has the wind firmly blowing their sails. West Brom have lost that winning feeling, having secured just one victory since October. Away win.

WATFORD vs MAN CITY (1730)
This could be, should be, a real corker of a game. Watford have surprised many with their form so far this season and sit below us only on goal difference. City's away form has been shocking, having last won on their travels back in September. Vincent Kompany misses out again today and the City defence will have their work cut out dealing with Odion Ighalo and a hard-working Watford team. It's tempting to predict a home win, but will plump for an entertaining score draw.

Seems like Montieth has retired for health reasons, keep up the good work.

Looking forward to a tough match today, couldn't call it, so narrow home win , with a Noble pen.

Arsenal, Leicester, Man Utd and City to win, the rest draws.

That last bit is awfully specific for someone that "couldn't call it".

Easily explained Antly, this is how I'd like it to go rather than how I think it will go. We've done it that way before one of my favourite wins.

Re: Other Saturday football
You want a narrow home win courtesy of a penalty??

I'd prefer a stonking 6-0 win. Carroll 3, Payet 2, Valencia 1.

Antly 9.06, yes, as that's in line with my expectations, but would happily take a 6-0 win too.

Lucky Allardyce.

Villa bossing the game and a deflection puts Sunderland ahead.

BFS will claim tactical genius and all part of his plan :-)
